May we move one step forward…
Continuing keeping employers, migrant workers and brokers informed that being pregnant and giving birth in Taiwan are what the laws have imposed in securing migrant worker mothers in practicing their rights of motherhood. Meanwhile, it is necessary to keep the migrant workers mindful of the importance taking care of young children, along with information about childcare, fees charged and so forth, to facilitate the clients to conduct balanced assessments and further make proper determinations.
Moving one step further, it is anticipated that the existing framework of “supplementary workforce” and the designated industries would be broken through one day. With the scheme of Long-term Retention Program for Migrant Workers, the feasibility of “diversified/flexible employment” should be conceptualized, and industrial employers should be encouraged to face up with the issue of childcare of migrant workers, along with measures of “friendly childcare” be designed. The abovementioned avenues are not only assuring migrant workers obtaining reasonable labor conditions, but also stabilizing their physical and mental conditions, and harmonizing personal career and marriage and childbirth plans, so that the rights of children are not sacrificed due to childcare options.
